It’s Been a Good 10 Years

2003_volkswagen_jetta_sedan_glx-vr6_fq_oem_1_500I think it is about time for me to get a new car. The one I am driving now is a 2003 Jetta. It is in pretty good shape right now so I should be able to get something for it on trade-in. I know I am not going to get rich or anything but maybe it will at least cover the taxes on whatever I decide to get. Right now deciding on what to get is totally up in the air. I have a few criteria that must be met but besides that I am up for anything. The first thing is the price. I won’t say how much I am willing to spend but I have a number in mind and am not willing to go over that as amount. Gas mileage is another big thing because I do have a rather long commute to get to work. Last but not least is I want a stick shift. I know that is sort of taboo nowadays but I still like driving one. When I get a rental car it is always an automatic and I feel so weird driving one. It is too easy and I find myself falling asleep or at least having my mind wander which is not what you want when you are behind the wheel.

What I plan on doing is finding 2 or preferably 3 different vehicles in the same price range then use them against each other to get the lowest price. I’ll also factor in the auto insurance quotes that I get on all of them but I don’t expect them to be that different. It isn’t like I am going to be looking at a Corolla versus a Mustang or something like that. Speaking of Corollas my friend Ryan drives one and he likes it a lot. The added bonus is they also come with manual transmissions and get good gas mileage so that will be one vehicle that I will definitely check out. Ryan also told me they retain their value so that is something else to consider. I hope to have this all done by the end of the month but that might be wishful thinking. It all depends on what is out there and who is willing to wheel and deal with me. I am not going to buy something unless I know I am getting the absolute best deal that I can get.

My Cat

1393095_bengal_catMy cat likes to creep around the apartment and sneak up on stuff, except there isn’t really anything for her to sneak up on.  I do have a laser pointer, though, that she likes to chase, but sometimes I’ll just be sitting here watching her and she’ll be walking slowly along the wall, carefully peering around the corner, crouched down a bit in stalk mode, except there’s never anything there.  Eventually she gets tired of it and will jump up on the couch and go to sleep.  It’s cute to watch, though!
